Our Mission

Christine Brandt and Betty Jean Clark of Mystic Kashmir's Goldens pledge to provide sound, healthy dogs of exquisite bloodlines that originate from the Scottish Hiighlands.  They strive to be involved in the latest findings in veterinarian medicine and genetics so they can update their practices.  They vow to be a resource for their puppy families throughout their lifetimes.  They are committed to producing puppies that qualify for service work, therapy work, emotional support and of course beloved family pets.  They commit to uphold the code of ethics set by the Golden Retriever Club of America.

Christy and Betty Jean have been friends for over 15 years.  They decided to combine their business when realizing that they work so well together, trust each other and that they each bring different assets to the venture but have the same goals and practices in mind as they endeavor to follow the GRCA (Golden Retriever Club of America) code of ethics.

Betty Jean’s first experience with goldens was in 1984.  That first golden got her hooked After 7 years of raising American-type goldens, Betty stepped back from puppy raising. Betty Jean then had two litters of puppies from 2007 to 2015.  One of these litters produced the amazing Thunder that Betty Jean gave to Christy's son, Travis!. He trained Thunder to Master Hunter before he was 2 years old. This inspired Travis to become an AKC hunt test judge.

After an encounter with Uplifting Paws in Lincoln, Nebraska they witnessed how their puppies filled a growing need in the community for “puppies with a purpose”. The ladies then agreed to incorporate practices that would help their puppies to potentially qualify for service, therapy and emotional support dog canidates. To date they have been successful in providing pups to several organizations, and this need keeps growing!

“Christy and I always say, we met online, fell in love, and made puppies together! Christy's first litter out of Kali was sired by my dog Rebel. We waited two years to make that happen and wow, what a litter!  This produced Christy's Rocky, who lived to be more than 12 years old.  Christy started showing Rocky and convinced me that I could do it too!  I told her it would have to be with her guidance! Thus was born a partnership, we set guidelines and our focus was the British-type Golden Retrievers, mostly of European bloodlines.  What a wonderful journey it has taken us on.  Yes we had ups and downs, but came through unscathed, and more knowledgeable! “ — Betty Jean

Christy Brandt started her love affair with the golden retriever breed in 1987 with a big, dark red boy named Goliath. Goliath was a best friend to her two young boys, a constant companion and an outstanding bird dog. Goliath lived a long, rich life and paved the way for Christy’s passion for the golden retriever breed.

Christy started breeding as an answer to an emptying nest. Her first litter was sired with Betty Jean’s stud dog Rebel, this litter of amazing puppies established an incredible growing friendship between these two women.

18 years later Christy and Betty Jean decided to blend their two programs together into Mystic Kashmir’s Goldens. The two women witnessed how well they worked together and what a difference they could make if they combined their efforts.

“Working with Betty Jean is so easy……we finish each others sentences, we have the same goals and we share the same values, I can’t imagine sharing this incredible ride with anyone else.”
